Job Summary

The Specialty Gas Sales Specialist will drive sales growth and market share by developing strong relationships with clients' lab personnel, safety departments, and procurement departments. Working closely with Matheson's packaged gas sales team, the Specialist will execute sales strategies and initiatives to increase sales and revenue.

Key Responsibilities
  • Increase sales and market share through direct and indirect sales activities.
  • Develop sales leads into profitable accounts, collaborating with local sales teams within defined regions.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and Matheson's senior management, operations, and quality assurance departments.
  • Provide regular reporting and updates on key customer, prospect, and project developments.
  • Develop and share best practices to enhance sales of specialty gases and equipment.
  • Monitor internal and external quality assurance programs and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) impacting customers' businesses.
  • Establish high standards and expectations for customer service through Matheson's customer service and operations groups.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in sales volume growth, account profitability, and contract terms.
  • Prepare and submit accurate expense reports in accordance with Matheson's policies.
  • Attend scheduled zone and region sales meetings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in life sciences or chemistry, ideally supported by an MBA or commercial experience in the strategic market.
  • 5-10 years of experience in sales or marketing within the life science, bio-science, pharmaceutical, chemical, semiconductor, or similar technical sales position selling hazardous materials, chemicals, equipment, process control devices, or process analyzers.
  • Working knowledge of ISO, Six Sigma, and lean manufacturing practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience in sales or marketing within the life science, bio-science, pharmaceutical, chemical, semiconductor, or similar technical sales position selling specialty, medical, and industrial gases.
  • Experience in the specialty gas, specialty gas equipment, bulk, medical, and industrial cylinder industry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Manufacturing of specialty gases, including pure gases, gas blends, hydrocarbon blends, and reactive gas blends, industrial cylinder gases, and bulk atmospheric gases. Computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook.
