UNC Health Care is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:- Administer radiopharmaceuticals and operate highly technical instruments to perform diagnostic procedures in Nuclear Medicine.
- Analyze acquired data and provide accurate results to physicians.
- Work under the direct supervision of the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor and take direction from Nuclear Medicine physicians.
- Identify patients, confirm date of birth, hospital number, and identification, and complete necessary paperwork for study input into radiology management systems.
- Confirm females of childbearing age are not pregnant and arrange for pregnancy testing upon orders from the Nuclear Medicine physician.
- Perform advanced duties such as Positron Emission Technology (PET) imaging and/or lead technologist role.
- Follow guidelines set up by Radiation Safety Office and NRC.
- Set up acquisition and perform according to protocol, maintaining patient comfort, care, and safety.
- Process films and submit to physician for approval.
- Graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
- Registered as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or registry eligible and become registered within one (1) year from date of hire.
