Job Summary:This position performs and teaches diagnostic procedures in Nuclear Medicine. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist administers radiopharmaceuticals, operates technical instruments, and analyzes acquired data under the supervision of the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor and physicians.Responsibilities:
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals, achieve venous access, and record administration details.
- Describe exams to patients, obtain informed consent, and complete necessary paperwork.
- Evaluate requisitions, charts, and lab results, and perform patient assessments.
- May perform advanced duties in Positron Emission Technology (PET) imaging and/or lead technologist roles.
- Handle radiopharmaceuticals, including receipt, documentation, and disposal, following Radiation Safety Office and NRC guidelines.
- Select, dose, and quality control review radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring correct administration for procedures.
- Set up acquisitions, maintain patient comfort and safety, and analyze images for correctness.
- Use RIS, CIS, SMS, and PACS to generate proper documentation and complete RIS orders with accurate charges.
Graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program. Registered as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or registry eligible and become registered within one (1) year from date of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
