Nuclear Medicine Technologist

This position performs and teaches diagnostic procedures in Nuclear Medicine, administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating technical instruments, and analyzing acquired data.
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist works under direct supervision and takes direction from Nuclear Medicine physicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administration & Record of Radiopharmaceutical: Identifies patients, confirms date of birth, hospital number, and identification.
- Describes exams to patients, obtains informed consent, completes necessary paperwork, and inputs patient information into the radiology management system.
- Confirms females of childbearing age are not pregnant and arranges for pregnancy testing upon orders from the Nuclear Medicine physician.
- Performs advanced duties such as Positron Emission Technology (PET) imaging and/or lead technologist role.
- Follows guidelines set up by Radiation Safety Office and NRC.
- Radiopharmaceutical selection, dosage, and quality control review, ensuring each dose is correct for the ordered procedure.
- Set up acquisition and performs according to protocol, maintaining patient comfort, care, and safety.
- Processes films and submits to physician for approval.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
- Registered as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or registry eligible and become registered within one (1) year from date of hire.
No prior experience required.
