We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sales Consultant to join our team at Sysco. As a Sales Consultant, you will be responsible for achieving maximum sales profitability, growth, and account penetration with an assigned territory.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain business relationships with current and prospective customers in the assigned territory to generate new business for Sysco's products and services.
- Make in-person visits and presentations to existing and prospective customers to promote and sell Sysco's products.
- Take customer orders with Sysco's goals in mind, focusing on sales and gross profit maximization.
- Participate in the review and oversight of customer orders, working with inside sales partners to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Respond promptly to customer problems and needs, providing solutions and support to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Review and analyze daily and weekly sales and margin reports to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Stay up-to-date on product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, and trends in the industry.
- Participate in Sysco's training and customer events, as well as sales meetings with Sysco's sales leaders.
- Develop relationships with accounts payable contacts at every account, working with them and Sysco's account receivable manager to ensure timely payment.
- Implement effective strategies to control days sales outstanding (DSOs) and reduce costly credits and returns.
- High school diploma required; 4-year degree in culinary arts, business, marketing, agriculture/animal science, or related studies preferred.
- 2-year prior food service and/or sales background strongly preferred, with experience in Center of the Plate/Meat Proteins sales a plus.
- Deep expertise in the meat and seafood category or restaurant/culinary background, with the ability to quickly learn and apply new knowledge.
- Consultative sales ability, with strong customer relations skills and a sense of urgency in meeting customer needs.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Outlook.
- Approach to building relationships with customers/stakeholders.
