Position Overview:

The Senior Processing Manager is tasked with overseeing the continuous processing operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness across all areas, including kitting, batching, receiving, filtration, and pasteurization. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence through the establishment of process standards while fostering a culture of innovation and decentralized decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the training and development of all staff members.
  • Promote a culture of zero losses through standardization and proactive loss elimination.
  • Lead and manage plant operations within the processing department, overseeing strategic initiatives and projects.
  • Establish and communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) throughout the department.
  • Collaborate with the dairy planner and scheduling manager to review daily inventories and production plans.
  • Sponsor key capital and commercialization projects relevant to processing.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager to address nonconforming products or ingredients.
  • Monitor compliance with GMPs, sanitation, and safety throughout shifts.
  • Partner with the Maintenance Manager to ensure optimal equipment functionality.
  • Manage the department's budget in alignment with financial targets.
  • Supervise team members in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in aseptic or ESL manufacturing, preferably in the dairy sector.
  • Self-motivated individual with a passion for continuous improvement.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Food Science, or Dairy Science, with a solid understanding of process flow and fluid mass balance.
  • Familiarity with regulatory food requirements, including PMO, PCQI, and FSMA.
  • Experience working with FDA/USDA and other regulatory agencies.
  • Proven track record in a 24/7 operational setting, collaborating with upstream and downstream partners.
  • Strong continuous improvement mindset, including skills in root cause analysis and Lean principles.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities while meeting production schedules.
  • Understanding of cleaning chemistry and CIP/COP programs.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
  • Demonstrated success in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to various atmospheric conditions and hazards.

Food Safety Responsibilities:

  • Maintain critical control points and regulatory standards consistently.
  • Implement corrective actions following nonconformance or product deviations.
  • Accountable for third-party food safety audits and internal quality programs.
  • Initiate actions to prevent occurrences of nonconformities related to food safety and quality.

Position Location: On-site

Reports To: Director of Operations

Travel Requirements: Initial travel of 50%, decreasing to less than 10% thereafter.
