Flight Line Avionics Mechanic I- 1st Shift (Full Time)
Department: All Openings
As a key member of our production team, the Flight Line Avionics Mechanic I- 1st Shift will assist the Supervisor and Lead Person in the production of aircraft parts and assemblies, as well as the installation and testing of aircraft systems and equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS), and other manufacturing instructions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining compliance with Piper QAM/QIM and FAA requirements.
- Perform initial Avionics set up, fuel calibrations, navigations and communications systems checks, air speed and altitude indication calibrations, autopilot checks and pitot static leak checks and adjustments on Cherokee model production aircraft.
- Test for, identify and correct electrical continuity, grounds, shorts and other faults.
- Operate fuel trucks and differentiate different fuel requirements for reciprocating and turbine powered aircraft.
- Basic troubleshooting and re-working minor discrepancies as necessary.
- Work with senior teammates to receive proper training to perform necessary job functions and requirements.
- Follow established work procedures to minimize unnecessary rework and/or scrap.
- Assist with maintaining effective Safety, Environmental Protection and 5S and other assigned department specific programs.
- Adjust work process and shift schedule to meet production schedules as determined by the Supervisor or Manager.
- Report machine/equipment malfunctions to Lead person or Supervisor.
- Maintain all necessary records, files, and reports per Q.P. and department specific requirements.
- Requires the use of and accountability of company tools as specified Piper SMP Policy.
- Continuously monitor inside of aircraft and outside areas for foreign object and debris as defined by Piper SMP Policy.
- Solder, crimp, route and tie off electrical components, connectors and other electrical assemblies as required.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion Flight Line Avionics Mechanic program or 2 years experience preferred.
- Related Flight Line Avionics Mechanic experience requirements:
- Flight Line Avionics Mechanic I: 2 years of experience
- Flight Line Avionics Mechanic II: 2-5 years of experience
- Senior Flight Line Avionics Mechanic I: 5-9 years of experience
- Senior Flight Line Avionics Mechanic II: 9 years of experience
Physical Demands:
Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate job specific equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance and reach above, out, and below.
