Job Summary

Under the direction of the Dean of the Scotch Plains and Virtual Campus, the Transfer Transition Coordinator will play a crucial role in facilitating UCNJ graduates' seamless transition to and ultimate success at the transfer institutions. This position provides comprehensive services to support our graduates in achieving their bachelor's degrees.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist UCNJ graduates in managing the bureaucratic obstacles of transfer.
  2. Collaborate with key College staff and faculty from various departments (e.g., ALC, Alumni Relations Coordinator, Career Services, Financial Aid, Transfer Advisor, and Union County College Foundation).
  3. Provide academic advising, tutoring, and student services for UCNJ graduates who transferred to senior colleges and universities.
  4. In collaboration with the Academic Learning Center, provide tutoring services as needed.
  5. Work with Career Services to provide transfer students with job and career opportunities for each field of study.
  6. Help students understand and stay on-track with pre-transfer requirements; create mechanisms to identify students at risk of falling off their plans.
  7. Provide financial aid workshops to assist graduates with filing FAFSA.
  8. Partner with the College's Foundation to facilitate transfer scholarship awards.
  9. Manage and track graduates' information in a central database.
  10. Track transfer trends - disaggregated by institution, programs, and student demographics. A focus on equity outcomes is critical.
  11. In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, create plan with specific goals to increase the rate if bachelor's attainment by UCNJ graduates.
  12. Create and maintain Graduate Student Advisory Boards.
  13. Support joint strategic initiatives with four-year institutions to increase bachelor's completion.
  14. Create and maintain a College webpage dedicated to the Transfer Transition Center.
  15. Answer questions and provide excellent service to UCNJ graduates regarding transfer and post-completion success.

RequirementsEducation Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.

Experience

Experience in advising students regarding college completion and transfer.

Experience in community colleges.

Competencies and Skills Required

Strong interpersonal communication skills.

Aptitude to inspire and engage recent UCNJ graduates.

Ability to sort through and solve complex bachelor's degree attainment challenges.

Must possess strong computer skills, including high proficiency in the MS Office.

Must be detail-oriented with a strong devotion to accuracy, an aptitude for data and analysis, and the ability to approach problems proactively with a sense of urgency, creativity, and resourcefulness.

Must be a team player with excellent written, interpersonal, and administrative skills.

The ability to speak in public and work collaboratively with other campus offices.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Capacity to handle confidential material.

Ability to assist a diverse student population in a positive and supportive manner.

Strong customer service skills are essential.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position's duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.

Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

Some travel required.

Possess the ability to travel and drive for business purposes and work some nights and weekends.

Salary

$55,000-$65,000

We offer a comprehensive benefits package for full-time faculty and staff which includes Medical, Dental and Vision Benefits. We also offer twenty vacation days, ten paid holidays, and a ten-week summer work schedule which allows the college to close on Fridays. Other additional benefits include gym privileges, tuition remission for credit and non-credit courses at UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ, and tuition reimbursement for an approved degree program at an accredited college or university.

Terms of Employment

Full-time. In-person. Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours may be required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off-campus sites as needed by the college. Overtime may be required throughout the year, especially at peak times. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
