Job Title: Overnight Support Staff
Reports To: Program Manager
Type of Position: Full-time
Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 11pm - 7am (includes holidays)
Compensation: $15.12 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY
The Overnight Support Staff are responsible for executing essential functions for the daily operations of the KARE Center, ensuring services are delivered in a respectful and comprehensive manner.
1. Foster a positive and supportive environment within the center
a. Engage in the intake process by collecting necessary information, orienting residents to center expectations, and informing them of their rights
b. Consistently provide positive reinforcement and respect to residents
c. Utilize preventive teaching strategies to mitigate conflicts
d. Offer supportive listening and motivate residents to adhere to their treatment plans as outlined by the clinical staff
2. Manage the admission of residents referred to the KARE Center
a. Ensure a medical evaluation from a local emergency facility is completed prior to admission
b. Create and maintain files for new admissions, completing all necessary documentation
c. Organize prescriptions and medical instructions
d. Document clinical details in residents' progress notes
e. Supervise and monitor self-administration of medications in accordance with state regulations
f. Record discharge information and circumstances
g. Provide oversight of residents within the KARE Center
h. Conduct regular bed checks as required
i. Monitor residents' medical and emotional well-being, arranging emergency care as needed
j. Alert the Program Manager in case of emergencies
3. Execute additional tasks as directed by the Program Manager
a. Respond to house phone inquiries appropriately
b. Manage Crisis Hotline calls and dispatch the appropriate mobile counselor
4. Participate in scheduled training sessions provided by KHDS
a. Engage in giving and receiving feedback from supervisors, crisis counselors, residents, or community members
b. Uphold confidentiality at all times
QUALIFICATIONS:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
1. Experience with AODA/Mental Health populations is advantageous
2. Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal, in English
3. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with a good driving record
4. Must carry personal auto insurance with minimum coverage of 100,000/300,000/100,000
5. Ability to maintain records and document case notes on a daily basis
6. Capacity to give and receive constructive feedback as part of a team
7. Ability to navigate within the workspace and community frequently
8. Capability to frequently ascend and descend stairs
9. Ability to transport items weighing at least 25 pounds
10. Willingness to learn and engage with treatment philosophies
11. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
