Job Overview
The Custodian (3rd Shift) is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of office spaces and classrooms. The individual in this role should be knowledgeable about cleaning techniques and the appropriate materials and equipment utilized in custodial tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform sweeping and mopping of stairs, hallways, offices, classrooms, and multi-purpose areas.
- Vacuum carpets and conduct spot cleaning as required.
- Clean windows.
- Execute hard surface floor maintenance including dust mopping, wet mopping, buffing, and applying floor finishes, including wax removal products.
- Polish furniture and maintain woodwork cleanliness.
- Collect paper and debris from the grounds near building entrances.
- Empty waste receptacles and sanitize containers.
- Maintain cleanliness of restrooms, including walls, floors, and fixtures, while restocking supplies.
- Clean light fixtures and HVAC vents.
- Oversee the maintenance of cleaning equipment.
- Organize and stock janitorial closets.
- Operate various cleaning machinery, including vacuum cleaners, buffers, and floor scrubbers.
- Completion of at least the eighth grade.
- Prior experience in cleaning or custodial roles.
- Experience working collaboratively within a team.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with others and function as a team member.
- Commitment to performing duties with pride and diligence.
- Capabilities:
- Follow verbal instructions accurately.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
- Utilize and operate all custodial cleaning equipment and machinery proficiently.
- Work in environments with elevated noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and dust.
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- This position requires extended periods of standing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and squatting.
- Frequent walking throughout the buildings and navigating stairwells is necessary.
