Job Overview

The Custodian (3rd Shift) is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of office facilities and classrooms. This role requires familiarity with cleaning techniques and the appropriate use of cleaning materials and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sweep and mop stairways, hallways, offices, classrooms, and multi-purpose areas.
  • Vacuum carpets and perform spot cleaning as needed.
  • Wash windows to maintain visibility and cleanliness.
  • Implement hard surface floor maintenance, including dust mopping, wet mopping, buffing, and applying floor finishes.
  • Polish furniture and maintain woodwork.
  • Collect paper and debris from the grounds surrounding building entrances.
  • Empty waste receptacles and sanitize containers.
  • Clean restroom facilities, including walls, floors, and fixtures, while restocking supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness of light fixtures and HVAC vents.
  • Ensure cleaning equipment is in good working order.
  • Organize and maintain janitorial supply areas.
  • Operate various cleaning machinery, including vacuum cleaners, buffers, and floor scrubbers.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of at least the eighth grade.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in cleaning or custodial roles.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to work well with others and contribute positively to a team.
  • Commitment to performing duties with pride and attention to detail.
  • Skills:
    • Follow verbal instructions effectively.
    • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues.
    • Utilize and operate all custodial cleaning equipment safely.
    • Work in environments with elevated noise levels, chemicals, and dust.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Additional Information
  • This position involves extended periods of standing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and squatting.
  • Frequent walking throughout the facilities, including navigating stairwells.
This is a 3rd shift position with regular hours from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Sunday through Thursday.
