Job Overview

The Custodian for the third shift is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of office spaces and classrooms. The role requires familiarity with cleaning techniques, equipment, and materials used in custodial tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform sweeping and mopping of stairs, hallways, offices, classrooms, and multi-purpose areas.
  • Vacuum carpets and conduct spot cleaning as needed.
  • Wash and maintain windows.
  • Execute hard surface floor maintenance, including dust mopping, wet mopping, buffing, and applying floor finishes.
  • Polish furniture and clean woodwork.
  • Collect litter and debris around building entrances.
  • Empty waste receptacles and sanitize containers.
  • Clean restroom facilities, including walls, floors, and fixtures, while restocking supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness of light fixtures and HVAC vents.
  • Ensure cleaning equipment is well-maintained.
  • Stock and organize janitorial closets.
  • Operate various cleaning machinery, including vacuum cleaners, buffers, and floor scrubbers.
Minimum Requirements
  • Completion of at least the eighth grade.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in cleaning or custodial roles.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
Skills and Abilities
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to work well with others and contribute positively to a team.
  • Commitment to performing tasks with diligence and pride.
  • Capabilities:
    • Follow verbal instructions effectively.
    • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues.
    • Utilize and operate all custodial cleaning tools and machinery.
    • Work in environments with high noise levels, chemicals, and dust.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Additional Information
  • This role involves extended periods of standing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and squatting.
  • Significant walking is required throughout the facilities, including navigating stairwells.
Note: This position operates during the third shift, with regular hours from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Sunday through Thursday.
