About the Role:
Excelin Health Services is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our rehabilitation department, you will play a vital role in providing coordinated occupational therapy to patients of all age groups under the supervision of a Licensed Occupational Therapist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform services planned, delegated, and supervised by the OT, ensuring seamless patient care.
- Participate in the coordination of patient care, utilizing effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to teach patients and families.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation, adhering to infection control and universal precautions to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
- Accept clinical assignments consistent with education and competence to care for patients, meeting mandatory continuing education requirements and participating in in-service programs.
- Demonstrate commitment, professional growth, and competency in all aspects of patient care.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of occupational therapy assistant with an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Current Texas State License to practice occupational therapy.
- Two-year experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies.
- Proof of current CPR and Hepatitis profile.
- Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Organized and resourceful self-starter, strong ability to work in a team.
- Excellent observation, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required.
- Works in a healthcare facility or patients' residence in various conditions; possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids and infectious diseases; ability to work flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather.
- Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs and to meet patient/family individualized psycho-social needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Pull, push, and/or lift 15-20 pounds on a daily basis. Pull/push 125-200 pounds on a regular basis. Pulls/push 200 or more pounds on a regular basis.
- Sits, stands, stoops, squats, walks, and moves intermittently during work hours.
- Drives in own car to and from patients' home. Work in patient(s) homes as well as agency office.
- Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
