Role Summary: The Mechanical Engineer 3 will engage in advanced mechanical, electrical, and field construction tasks. This role involves gathering and organizing data, creating estimates, and conducting systems and bid analyses, all aligned with the strategic vision and values of JE Dunn.
Autonomy & Decision-Making: This position requires making decisions on standard matters, offering recommendations to supervisors, and escalating exceptions as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in and uphold the company's safety and quality culture, demonstrating a commitment to an injury-free workplace.
- Perform entry-level mechanical, electrical, and field construction tasks.
- Learn to develop budgetary mechanical/electrical estimates based on program and schematic design information using automated estimating systems.
- Assist in reviewing mechanical and electrical options during the preconstruction phase and conduct systems analysis for selected projects.
- Support the development of mechanical and electrical scopes of work for the bidding process.
- Contribute to bid analysis and provide insights during subcontractor selection.
- Assist in defining sequencing requirements for various systems to meet project schedules.
- Gain familiarity with design documents to identify potential quality issues and aid in creating constructability review reports.
- Conduct job inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and timely completion of work.
- Support the shop drawing and submittal process to align with contract documents.
- Assist in the commissioning process, including developing pre-functional checklists and functional testing procedures.
- Promote a culture of diversity and inclusion within the organization.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Engage in increasingly complex mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.
- Develop budgetary estimates based on design information.
- Review mechanical and electrical options, conduct systems analysis, and recommend optimal solutions for projects.
- Coordinate mechanical and electrical scopes during the bidding phase.
- Provide scheduling input and solutions to meet project timelines.
- Identify potential quality issues in design documents and assist in developing quality control measures.
- Conduct inspections to ensure specifications are met and quality standards are upheld.
- Generate pre-functional checklists and oversee functional testing procedures.
- Review and approve shop drawings prior to submission to the design team.
- Mentor less experienced colleagues and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Innovate and create tools to enhance processes and work products.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field is required.
- 5+ years of experience in construction and/or engineering is preferred.
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license is required.
