Position Summary: The Senior Associate for Educational Programs plays a crucial role in delivering captivating programming for educational and community partners. This position emphasizes revenue-generating and community-focused engagements, both on-site and off-site, aimed at youth and families while supporting overall educational operations.
This is a full-time role that may require occasional weekend and evening work.
Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and exemplify best practices for engaging and dynamic STEAM programming tailored for youth, families, K-12 students, educators, and other participants, focusing on educational outcomes.
  • Facilitate high-quality programming through offsite Learning Labs.
  • Safely operate and demonstrate the use of advanced lab and fabrication (Maker Space) equipment and materials related to programming.
  • Design software applications and machinery, as well as STEAM-related content that meets client expectations and needs (including Inkscape, TinkerCad, Prusa, Retinaengrave, and Fusion Edge).
  • Research, develop, and enhance high-quality K-12 STEAM programming, continually testing and improving existing offerings.
  • Create, evaluate, and refine programs for offsite experiences, camps, innovation studios, and other departments as necessary.
  • Support Museum initiatives for unique events initiated by various departments such as Special Events and Exhibits.
  • Act as a community liaison for the Museum, attending conferences and events, and demonstrating programs for media outlets as required.
  • Mentor and assist Education Programs Associates as needed.
  • Manage inventory and procure supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in classroom or program facilitation is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in program development within informal learning environments is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with pedagogy and educational strategies is preferred.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to unexpected situations, demonstrating flexibility and improvisation skills.
  • Capacity to quickly learn new programming and master a variety of facilitation methodologies, including design software applications and machinery.
  • Must be willing to travel for programming within the region and occasionally for longer distances.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
  • Language Skills:
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating manuals and procedures.
    • Ability to communicate effectively before groups of employees.
  • Mathematical Skills:
    • Ability to perform calculations involving addition, subtraction, percentages, etc.
  • Reasoning Skills:
    • Ability to solve practical problems and manage various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, or schedule form.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to perform various functions such as standing, sitting, walking across uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, lifting, pushing, carrying, and participating in physical activities.
    • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment:
    • The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
