About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled BESS Estimator to join our team at RES. As a key member of our estimating team, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for renewable energy and utility-owned battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and understand Request for Proposals (RFP) documents to determine the scope of work and required pricing elements for inclusion within the estimate.
  • Contribute to a team of project estimators for respective statements of work (SOWs) to prepare accurate, competitive, and timely estimates for Bid-Build and EPC construction Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Collaborate with Opportunity Lead Estimator for additional project information, engineering support services, and deliverables as the estimate basis.
  • Receive, prioritize, and distribute quote requests to vendors and subcontractors; analyze responses for accuracy, completeness, and efficacy per request and project schedule milestones.
  • Use standardized tools and processes to prepare accurate, competitive, and timely project cost and schedule estimates.
  • Complete quantity take-offs to calculate estimate quantities and units of work for Balance of Plant (BOP) and EPC self-perform utility-size BESS construction scopes of work.
  • Quantify resources and production rates for utility-size BESS system construction.
  • Determine impacts to estimates based on local labor requirements, current commodity pricing, and client's project specifications.
  • Identify project risks.
  • Attend work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Comply with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
  • Creates estimate-related bid proposal documents to meet RFP submittal requirements, such as Schedule of Values (SOV,) client-provided technical forms, and ACE documents (Assumptions, Clarifications, Exclusions.)
  • Collaborates with Opportunity Lead Estimator and Preconstruction Manager for alignment of estimated resources and duration represented in project estimate to achieve client-defined milestones identified within the project schedule.
  • Presents project scope, identified risks, and cost estimate through an estimate review process.
  • Gathers details and maintains current market data to accurately estimate construction, material, and soft costs associated with project construction.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to Associate Estimators and new-hired Estimating Team Members.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related area of study; OR High School with at least 2 years equivalent industry experience, required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2 or more years of experience estimating utility-size BESS systems, industrial electrical systems, or a combination thereof, required.
  • 1 or more years of field-based construction experience in the installation of utility-size BESS systems, preferred.
  • Ability to travel 5 to 15%.
