The Opportunity

We are seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to join our growing Engineering and Design division in Denver. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in aligning customer needs with our engineering expertise to deliver innovative solutions that meet our customers' expectations and drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage project resources to meet deadlines and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers on design and technical topics, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Conduct quarterly goal plan reviews with direct reports to ensure alignment and progress towards objectives.
Design Management
  • Support the delivery of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) projects, including solar photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage systems, and microgrids.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop best-in-class design delivery processes and standards.
  • Provide engineering analysis to support sales and early design efforts, ensuring accurate and efficient project planning.
  • Lead design tasks and provide clear direction on project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Support the development of junior engineers through engagement in standards development and technical training.
  • Identify and respond to changes in project scope, schedule, budget, or expectations, ensuring timely and effective adjustments.
  • Coordinate with construction and estimating teams to reduce project costs and improve efficiency.
  • Engage in strategic Engineering & Design group initiatives as assigned, driving innovation and growth.
  • Prepare proposals effectively, aligning scopes and fees with project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Coordinate with utilities for interconnection of DER systems, ensuring seamless project execution.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Professional Engineer registration and ability to acquire licensure in additional states.
  • Experience in the design and construction of Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems, PV + Storage systems designs, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) design, and Microgrid designs.
  • Utility Scale PV system design experience preferred.
  • Ability to evaluate power systems and perform studies for arc flash, short circuit current, coordination, underground cable thermals, grounding, and load flow analysis.
  • Medium-Voltage (15 kV and below) design experience required, protective relaying experience preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams.
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Procore, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Skilled in electrical analysis software (SKM, EasyPower, ETAP, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Efficient time management and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Development of Engineering fee proposals, resource plans, and financial analysis of projects.
  • 5 to 10 years' experience in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on DER, including project management and people management experience.
