About the Role

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified High School Science Teacher to join our team. As a member of our faculty, you will play a critical role in shaping the minds of our students and preparing them for their future careers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons to students in grades 9-12, aligned with the district's Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum.
  • Develop and prioritize short and long-term instructional objectives, identifying specific prerequisite skills and knowledge necessary for students to learn the AKS.
  • Evaluate, select, and modify resources and activities to support student learning, including reviewing district core materials and selecting resources that match the learner's needs.
  • Provide formative and summative assessments to measure student progress and achievement, adjusting instructional plans based on assessment results.
  • Organize the learning environment to maximize student time on task, ensuring smooth transitions and maintaining an orderly system for housekeeping duties.
  • Maintain behavior that is conducive to learning, defining and communicating behavior expectations to students and monitoring behavior to provide appropriate feedback.
  • Participate in professional growth and professional learning activities, applying new knowledge and skills acquired in planning and delivery of student instruction.
Requirements
  • Meets Georgia certification requirements in the appropriate field of education.
  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of education from a Professional Standards Commission (PSC) approved college or university.
  • Previous teaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum, with in-depth knowledge of content in the field of certification.
