Job OverviewThe Patient Access Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring seamless patient flow and efficient revenue cycle management. As a liaison between patients, payers, and healthcare teams, this position requires excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, including EMTALA, DNV, and HIPAA
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patient inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner
- Verify patient demographic information and insurance benefits to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement
- Obtain and verify signatures on required forms and consents
- Maximize collection efficiency by pursuing payments at the time of service
- Scan and maintain accurate medical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Coordinate patient transfers and respond to medical record requests
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to facility policies and procedures
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; 1 year of patient registration experience preferred
- Knowledge of various insurance plans and payors, including HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, and Medicaid
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and MS Office applications
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
