Essential Qualifications:

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related field in Science, Engineering, or Mathematics is required. Additionally, 10+ years of relevant experience is necessary, or a Master's degree accompanied by 8 years of relevant experience. Experience in Agile methodologies is preferred.

Security Clearance:
Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance upon hiring. Selected candidates will undergo a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information. U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to the nature of the work performed.

Key Responsibilities:

Position Objectives:

As a Lead Site Reliability Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Addressing complex Platform engineering challenges that require significant creativity and innovation, sometimes involving unexplored research areas.

Driving significant feature enhancements in our products.

Becoming a subject matter expert in our Platform automation and architecture.

Leading research initiatives to incorporate new capabilities into our Platform.

Assisting in the breakdown of tasks and contributing to roadmapping discussions.

Setting technical goals for the team.

Developing automation solutions to create and manage multiple PaaS deployments.

Automatically configuring and deploying PaaS infrastructure, including identity and access management, network architecture, application security, logging, monitoring, and deployment.

Collaborating with internal and external clients to implement solutions and conducting workshops to educate and empower them.

Working closely with the team to plan significant updates and improvements to our products.

Guiding engineering teams in the evolution of Cloud technologies.

In this capacity, you will serve as the Site Reliability Engineer collaborating with critical internal and external Platform users.

Alongside the team, you will facilitate the successful implementation of a PaaS in the Cloud through architectural guidance, best practices, data migration, implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, and more.

Candidates should demonstrate strengths and experience in the following areas:

Familiarity with the distinctions between public (AWS, Azure), private (RHOSP, VIO), and hybrid cloud environments.

Container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.

Deployment of continuous integration and continuous deployment technologies like GitLab, Jenkins, Puppet, or Chef.

Experience in maintaining production-grade applications in virtualized environments (cloud computing platforms and services) using automation.

Creation of pipelines, Ansible Playbooks, and/or Terraform configurations to automate administrative tasks from resource creation to service configuration.

Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Additional Beneficial Experience:
Knowledge of IT security practices including encryption, certificates, key management, patch management, STIG, RMF, or security hardening and auditing.

Installation of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) technologies such as Amazon Web Services, OpenStack, RHOSP, or VIO.

Management of Cloud Resources in Amazon Web Services and/or Azure.

Platform as a Service (PaaS) technologies such as Kubernetes, Rancher, or OpenShift.

Cloud automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Terragrunt, or Packer.

Experience with open-source server, messaging, load balancing, and database software (e.g., RabbitMQ, Redis, Elasticsearch).

Knowledge of scalable networking technologies such as Load Balancers (NGINX)/Firewalls and web standards (REST APIs, web security mechanisms).
