Radiation Oncologist

All Levels; All Specializations

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Missouri School of Medicine and MU Health Care is seeking applications for a Board Eligible/Board Certified Radiation Oncologist at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level. The academic rank, salary, and appointment type will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in teaching and a record of scholarly contributions. The faculty role will be within the Department of Radiation Oncology, and the selected candidate will be expected to engage in clinical practice at the University of Missouri Hospital.

This position offers access to advanced resources, cutting-edge facilities, and exceptional opportunities for collaboration with researchers at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. Candidates will have the chance to mentor and educate trainees and students. Academic time will be allocated for scholarly activities in the candidate's area of expertise, with the aim of fostering collaborative or independent research that is externally funded. Faculty members are encouraged to participate actively in their professional organizations and contribute to a vibrant academic environment.

Essential Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree with Board Certification/Eligibility in Radiation Oncology
  • Possession of current, unrestricted medical licensure in Missouri or eligibility for such licensure
  • Academic credentials suitable for appointment at the assistant or associate professor level.

The department collaborates closely with specialized surgeons and oncologists to deliver optimal cancer care through multidisciplinary tumor boards and clinics. There are abundant opportunities for collaboration with researchers and clinician-scientists at the University of Missouri. The Ellis Fischel Cancer Center (EFCC) provides avenues for radiation oncology faculty to participate in clinical trials sponsored by prominent oncology groups and the NCI Cancer Trials Support Unit. Additionally, the EFCC Clinical Trials Office supports investigator-initiated and pharmaceutical-sponsored clinical trials, along with collaboration opportunities with other cancer centers for joint research projects and publications.

Looking ahead, significant investments are being made in medical research. The NextGen Precision Health Institute is a state-of-the-art research facility designed to foster collaboration between scientists and clinicians, equipped to support the entire translational research process.

The department is outfitted with advanced technology, including a Varian Ethos for adaptive radiotherapy and a Varian TrueBeam for SRS and SBRT procedures. An active brachytherapy program is also in place.
