Position Overview
The Radiation Oncology Physicist is accountable for the optimization of radiation treatment plans, ensuring the safety of both patients and staff. This role encompasses clinical, research, and educational responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Management: Assess and specify dosimetric and treatment planning tools, including calibration instruments and computerized systems.
  • Machine Selection: Engage in the specification and acceptance of radiation machines and treatment planning systems.
  • Maintenance Oversight: Supervise the maintenance of radiation treatment equipment and evaluate its performance.
  • Quality Assurance: Lead the quality management program related to external beam radiotherapy and oversee procedures followed by the radiation therapy team.
  • Clinical Collaboration: Consult with physicians to provide guidance during patient treatment planning and ensure accurate calculations.
  • Documentation: Complete all necessary documentation for radiation treatment plans and participate in training new staff.
  • Brachytherapy Procedures: Conduct HDR and LDR brachytherapy as required and mentor junior physicists.
  • Program Direction: Direct the radiation oncology physics program, providing technical leadership to dosimetrists and support staff.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Physics or Medical Physics from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in clinical radiation physics.
  • Certification: Therapeutic Medical Physics - C069.

Work Environment
