Position: Chief Medical Physicist (T/TT or NTT)
The newly established Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Missouri Columbia is seeking applications for a highly qualified AAPM Board-Certified Medical Physicist at the Associate or Professor level to assume the role of division chief of medical physics. The academic rank, compensation, and appointment type will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
The selected candidate will be responsible for leading patient care initiatives, which include external beam radiotherapy, Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT), Low-Dose Rate (LDR) prostate seeds, High-Dose Rate (HDR) brachytherapy, and other clinical services as required. The candidate will also provide mentorship and leadership to the Medical Physics and dosimetry teams, oversee departmental regulatory inspections, and ensure comprehensive oversight of the Medical Physics and dosimetry programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead clinical practices and ensure high standards of patient care.
- Mentor and guide the Medical Physics and dosimetry teams.
- Oversee regulatory compliance and departmental inspections.
- Engage in research opportunities in areas such as SRS for functional neurological disorders, multi-lesion SRS, adaptive radiation therapy, and advanced brachytherapy.
- Contribute to the development of a Medical Physics Residency Program and actively participate in teaching.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to clinical excellence and possess strong ambitions in research and education. Excellent communication skills are essential for fostering a collaborative environment within the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- M.S. degree in Medical Physics or a closely related discipline.
- Board Certification.
- 3-5 years of clinical experience.
- Ability to be added to the HDR license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Medical Physics or a closely related field.
The faculty appointment will be within the Department of Radiation Oncology, and the candidate will be expected to maintain a clinical practice at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. Opportunities for scholarly work and research funding are available, encouraging candidates to pursue collaborative or independent projects in their areas of expertise.
