Job Summary

The Scheduling Nurse-LPN is a critical role at Bryan Health, a leading healthcare provider. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will play a vital part in ensuring seamless patient care and contributing to a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Access to Medical Services
    • Secure medical necessity, patient demographic, and financial information from healthcare facilities, patients, and patient representatives.
    • Collect and analyze pertinent clinical data, intervening to prevent problems that could result in adverse patient outcomes or delayed/cancelled procedures.
  • Multi-Resource Appointment Scheduling
    • Perform appointment scheduling for inpatient/outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic services.
    • Attain patient information, including medical necessity, demographics, and pertinent clinical information.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Educate patients/patient representatives on preparation and understanding of procedures.
    • Collaborate with physician office staff to educate patients/patient representatives.
    • Clearly communicate instructions to patients and/or patient representatives.
  • Review and Evaluation
    • Review and evaluate outpatient orders received from physicians and/or physician staff.
    • Use clinical judgment/critical thinking to follow-up on appropriateness and completeness of physician orders.
Requirements
  • Licensed Practical Nurse Licensure
    • Licensed Practical Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of three (3) years medical/surgical experience.
    • Extensive experience in hospital/health operations and general background in all areas of nursing practice.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of nursing theory, anatomy, and physiology, procedural indications, and medical/nursing terminology.
    • Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications, including the computer-based scheduling system.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to prioritize work based on analysis of information from physicians, physician staff, healthcare facilities, patients, or family members.
