Job Summary

The University Medical Center of El Paso seeks a highly skilled and experienced Trauma Program Manager to oversee the management of the trauma program in accordance with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma (COT) criteria for verified Level I Trauma Centers. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and evaluating functions within the trauma program, including performance improvement, research, trauma registry, and trauma-related educational services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Trauma Medical Director, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective care to trauma patients.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agency standards to maintain Trauma Center verification and state designation.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to improve trauma program performance and outcomes.
  • Manage and evaluate the trauma registry, including data collection and analysis.
  • Provide educational services to local and regional healthcare professionals on trauma-related topics.

Requirements

  • Three years of supervisory/managerial experience, with strong nursing experience in trauma, emergency, or critical care.
  • Knowledge of trauma registry and research methods.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with medical staff, associates, and customers.
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate teams.
  • Customer service orientation and a commitment to delivering high-quality care.

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master of Science degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN), or Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) certification required or obtained within one year of hire.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) certification required within one year of hire.
