Job Description

At Christ Community Health Services, we are seeking a skilled Registered Dental Assistant to provide chair-side assistance to our licensed dentists and support the Clinic with various clerical duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Retract patient's cheek, tongue, and other tissue; remove water syringes.
  2. Take, expose, and develop x-rays of the mouth, gums, jaws, and/or teeth.
  3. Apply topical medications; place rubber dams in patient's mouth; remove excess cement from and adjacent to crowns, bridges, and orthodontic bands; place matrix bands; remove and replace ligature wires; remove sutures.
  4. Perform dietary and salivary analysis and infection control procedures.
  5. Demonstrate oral care procedures and techniques; chart patient's mouth.
  6. Flush evacuation system with chemical cleaners.
  7. Complete reports and maintain records.
  8. Schedule recalls and appointments.
  9. Order supplies and equipment and keep accurate inventory; order repairs on dental equipment; research prices and equipment specifications.
  10. May perform other duties as required.

Expanded Functions:

  1. Practice coronal polishing; mechanically polish restorations.
  2. Place and remove temporary restorations.
  3. Monitor patient while nitrous oxide is being administered.
  4. Apply pit and fissure sealants.

Position Requirements:

Education: High school diploma plus RDA program along with expanded functions education.

Experience: At least 1-to-2 years' experience performing fundamental and expanded duties of a certified dental assistant as outlined by the Tennessee State Board of Dentistry; experience completing dental radiographs and alginate impressions; and experience performing clerical duties associated with a dental office.

Licenses/certifications: Certified to practice as an expanded function Dental Assistant as stipulated by the laws and administrative rules of the Tennessee State Board of Dentistry; CPR certification required.
