Job Summary

The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Patient Services Team Lead to join our team. As a key member of our clinical operations team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to a team of patient service coordinators, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Direction: Provide guidance and oversight to patient service coordinators, temporary support staff, and other staff members who provide services in the outpatient setting.
  • Operations Management: Monitor and evaluate the efficiency of patient scheduling, wait times, and work queues, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
  • Staff Coordination: Collaborate with the Operations Manager to coordinate daily activities, including morning check-ins, vacations, and staffing shortages.
  • Training and Development: Provide coaching and mentoring to team members to improve operational effectiveness and quality, ensuring staff are trained on systems and processes and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Financial and Billing: Ensure accurate collection of co-pays and maintain cash drawers, monitor exam room cleanliness and stock levels.
  • Office Coordination, Safety, and Compliance: Maintain supplies, forms, and equipment, coordinate repairs and replacements, and ensure a clean and safe environment of care.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field preferred or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience in ambulatory medical practice.
  • Skills and Abilities: Outstanding interpersonal skills, ability to function independently and as part of a team, exceptional phone and customer service skills, ability to multitask and prioritize a large workload, excellent organizational skills, strong problem-solving skills, good understanding of medical terminology and insurance coverage, and strong computer skills.
