Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist II to join our team at the State of North Carolina. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procure goods and services for the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, including information technology, laboratory equipment, and other specialized items.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet the needs of the department, while ensuring compliance with state regulations and policies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify procurement opportunities and develop solutions to meet business needs.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to determine the best procurement options for the department.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
  • Prepare and present procurement reports to management and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and two years of procurement experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with large-scale purchasing methods and procedures, including procurement contracts and contract management.
  • Ability to independently compose contract documents and correspondence.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize procurement requests in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to research different materials, commodities, and services.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience with a broad range of complex services, information technology procurements, and commodities.
  • Experience with the Interactive Purchasing System (IPS) and/or the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS).
  • Experience with P-cards.
