Porter-Gaud School is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Athletic Training Specialist to join our Athletics Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing medical care and support to student-athletes, as well as assisting with the development and implementation of athletic training programs.
Key Responsibilities- Medical Care and Support: Provide medical care and support to student-athletes, including injury assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation.
- Program Development and Implementation: Assist with the development and implementation of athletic training programs, including the creation of emergency action plans and the maintenance of athletic training supplies and equipment.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with coaches, athletes, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure the health and safety of student-athletes.
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of student-athlete medical history, treatment, and rehabilitation, as well as report any injuries or illnesses to the Head Athletic Trainer and other relevant personnel.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE-accredited college or university; Master's degree preferred.
- Certification and Licensure: Must be BOC-certified and possess South Carolina Athletic Training State Licensure.
- Experience: Experience working in a school setting preferred.
- Knowledge of Athletic Training: Thorough knowledge of existing system and state athletic regulations, as well as the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques associated with the athletic training program.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in high-stress/pressure situations, as well as work collaboratively with coaches, athletes, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Organizational and Time Management Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain accurate and detailed records.
The Athletic Training Specialist will be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear, taste, smell, and lift and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds. Medium strength is required to position patients for examination.
