The Opportunity: The University of Central Florida is seeking a skilled Plans Examiner/Inspector to join our Building Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Florida Building Code in University facilities. This is a part-time position, approximately 20 hours per week, with a competitive hourly rate of $26.83 to negotiable.

Responsibilities:
  • Review construction plans and specifications for compliance with adopted codes, preparing written reports as needed.
  • Perform on-site inspections to ensure compliance with adopted codes, approved plans, and specifications, coordinating corrective actions and follow-up inspections.
  • Maintain records of inspections, violations, and corrections, developing a strong knowledge of campus facilities to facilitate a smooth and efficient plan review/inspection process.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4+ years of relevant work experience in construction, design, or inspections of buildings as supervisor or contractor. Must possess a minimum of 1 plans examiner and 1 inspector license (2 total).

Preferred Qualifications: Minimum five years' inspection experience with a local government or inspection agency. The preferred candidate holds an examiner and inspector license.
