Job Title: Seasonal Resource Assistant - Diadromous Fisheries

Job Summary:

The Seasonal Resource Assistant will assist in the implementation of the Diadromous Fisheries Program, which aims to restore and conserve diadromous fish species in Connecticut. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of professional diadromous fish biologists and will be responsible for various tasks, including data collection, fieldwork, and facility maintenance.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of data on diadromous fish species
  • Conduct fieldwork, including wading in chest-deep water and collecting biological samples
  • Perform facility maintenance, including landscaping, fishway repair, and data entry
  • Assist in the transportation of fish and equipment
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities
Requirements:
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • Ability to perform strenuous field activities, including wading in chest-deep water
  • Recent college graduates with a degree in Fisheries Biology or general Biology are preferred
Working Conditions:

The Seasonal Resource Assistant will work outdoors, often in remote areas, and may be required to work in inclement weather. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to work in a fast-paced environment.
