Job Summary

We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our Marine Fisheries Program as Seasonal Resource Assistants. As a key member of our team, you will assist in various projects, including sampling, data collection, and laboratory work. If you have a passion for marine biology and a strong work ethic, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in sampling and data collection for various marine fisheries projects
  • Conduct laboratory work, including fish processing and aging
  • Help maintain and clean sampling gear
  • Enter data and ensure data quality assurance procedures are followed
  • Interact with the public at outreach events
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift and move 50 lbs, deploy and haul fishing gear in various hydrographic conditions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with biological sciences, including coursework in fisheries or a related field
  • Experience conducting field work, including sampling and data collection
  • Experience with marine fish and invertebrate identification
  • Experience with data entry and data quality assurance procedures
Working Conditions

Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain adequate physical strength and stamina to perform the duties of the class. Incumbents performing lifeguard services must be able to demonstrate American Red Cross (ARC) waterfront lifeguarding swimming skills.
