PositionRole Summary:
The Field Engineer I is tasked with independently inspecting and overseeing construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans and adherence to all relevant specifications and codes.
This role involves notifying project management of significant issues and documenting satisfactory completion of inspections or testing activities as per project specifications.
Employees must develop a comprehensive understanding of the project scope and timeline related to their specific responsibilities.Location & Travel Requirements:
This position offers opportunities for travel across the United States, focusing on sustainability initiatives and assisting teams in constructing wind infrastructure.
Employees may be assigned to project sites in various states throughout the country, with additional weekly subsistence provided to support living expenses.Key Responsibilities:
Adhere to and promote all company safety policies and procedures
Conduct inspections to ensure quality during daily construction activities on large-scale wind and/or solar projects.
Verify that construction activities align with design documents.
Review testing and inspection reports to confirm completion of required tests, communicating any failures to the Field Quality Manager for assessment.
Ensure all materials used in installations comply with approved submittals, purchase orders, and product data to meet job site specifications.
Perform basic to moderate surveying and necessary measurements to check line, grade, and dimensions of roadways and structural elements.
Organize daily activities to ensure all quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) data are accurately recorded.
Monitor and document all executed work scope, preparing comprehensive Daily Reports detailing completed quantities and utilized resources.
Proactively identify deficiencies through preconstruction quality control inspections.
Address deficiencies promptly and effectively.
Collaborate closely with the Field Quality Manager and site management as the field representative to ensure compliance with QA/QC requirements, project scope, and Standard Operating Procedures.
Maintain open communication with construction managers to report job progress, schedules, subcontractor performance, and coordinate field operations through effective management of personnel.
Assist in compiling necessary information for the creation of operations and maintenance manuals/files.
Support Logistics Management to ensure compliance with receiving processes, inventory management, and Standard Operating Procedures when materials arrive on site: inspection, offloading, receiving, and storage.
Inspect completed work and manage punch lists for assigned disciplines to support the quality control process.
Assist in managing production and extra work authorization logs, identifying items and their resolutions.
May assist in preparing and distributing daily project updates to relevant parties.
May participate in the daily validation process of calibrated tools and determine the calibration status of measuring and testing equipment.
Utilize construction management software for quality inspections, maintaining quality control documentation, data collection, and inputs.
May assist or participate in phase gate preparations or presentations.
Support the Field Quality Manager with benchmarking processes and job book development and turnover.
May mentor and train Quality Inspectors in their respective duties and responsibilities.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent with 2 or more years of experience in a related construction field.
Must be capable of completing and passing the local or state certified SWPPP inspector program and possess a working knowledge of SWPPP project management plans.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Demonstrate reasonable care for personal and others' health and safety, adhering to the Company's Zero Injury principles.
Self-motivated, organized, with strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Proficient in using software packages necessary for documentation, analysis, and retention of quality records.
Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Detail-oriented with the capacity to independently manage tasks effectively.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and technical procedures.
Capable of writing daily reports and documenting project activities.
Effectively collect and record field data to ensure compliance with corporate Quality Control procedures.
Ensure the effective implementation of the quality control program for assigned project tasks.
Ability to perform calculations and apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
Strong communication skills to interface effectively with a diverse group of field-level employees.
