Position Summary:
The Senior Aquatic Supervisor will play a crucial role in the planning, oversight, and execution of activities within the Aquatic Department. This position may also involve lifeguarding duties and instructional responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee aquatic personnel, including instructors and lifeguards, as designated.
- Engage in active lifeguarding and support various aquatic instructional programs.
- Manage the daily operations of swim lesson programs under the guidance of the Program Manager.
- Ensure the smooth operation of aquatics programs and facilities, including special events as directed.
- Enforce safety regulations to maintain a secure environment for all participants and staff.
- Develop and implement a Lifeguard Instructor program, assisting in the training of aquatic staff for certification.
- Conduct constant surveillance of assigned areas to identify potential hazards.
- Perform rescues and provide first aid, CPR, and rescue breathing as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records and reports as required.
- Supervise the cleanliness and maintenance of pool areas and related facilities.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to all community members.
- Maintain professionalism and effective communication with colleagues and patrons.
- Report any incidents or safety concerns promptly.
- Adhere to the dress code and maintain a professional appearance while on duty.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Availability for varied shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Experience in public interaction.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with staff and community members.
- At least two years of experience as a lifeguard and aquatic instructor.
- Prior experience as a head lifeguard is highly desirable.
- Current certifications in the following are required:
- American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Management certification
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification
- American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification
- American Red Cross Oxygen Administration certification
- American Red Cross Blood Borne Pathogens certification
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to swim 500 yards in under 15 minutes.
- Tread water for 2 minutes without using hands.
- Must be physically fit to perform rescue and first-aid techniques.
- Ability to lift and carry at least 40 lbs.
- Good physical and mental health to meet the demands of the role.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience as a Swim Instructor or Lifeguard.
- Demonstrated dedication, flexibility, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
