POSITION OVERVIEW

Placer County is actively seeking qualified candidates to fill various roles within its engineering departments, including the Engineering Division, Transportation Planning Division, Floodplain & Stormwater Division, and Environmental Utilities Division.

Engineering Division: This division is tasked with the planning and execution of significant public works projects throughout the region. Responsibilities include the design and construction of infrastructure improvements such as bridge replacements, roadway enhancements, and the development of facilities for cyclists and pedestrians. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a keen eye for detail and a passion for infrastructure development.

Transportation Planning Division: This division focuses on comprehensive transportation strategies, traffic safety initiatives, and the management of funding programs. It also evaluates land development proposals to ensure alignment with transportation objectives and compliance with environmental regulations. Candidates should possess strong communication skills and a commitment to enhancing community infrastructure.

Floodplain and Stormwater Division: This division oversees the management of stormwater quality permits and floodplain regulations. Responsibilities include collaborating with the public and consultants to address stormwater and floodplain compliance issues, as well as liaising with regulatory agencies. Candidates with experience in GIS and regulatory interpretation will be highly regarded.

Environmental Utilities Division: This division manages the county's sewer and solid waste systems, ensuring efficient operation through contracts and direct oversight. Responsibilities include reviewing land development plans, conducting inspections, and managing capital projects. Candidates should have strong technical skills and the ability to engage with various stakeholders.

Engineering & Surveying Division: This division is responsible for the assessment and approval of grading, drainage, and site improvements for private developments. Duties include issuing permits, overseeing mining operations, and ensuring compliance with county standards. Candidates should possess the technical expertise to interpret engineering plans and communicate effectively with diverse groups.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To qualify, candidates should have a combination of relevant experience and education, typically including:

  • Two years of professional engineering experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineer license in California.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Successful candidates will have a solid understanding of civil engineering principles, project management software, and relevant laws and regulations. They should also demonstrate strong leadership abilities, effective communication skills, and a commitment to public service.
