Boiler Controls Specialist

Cleaver-Brooks is seeking a highly skilled Boiler Controls Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Field Services team, you will be responsible for ensuring the readiness of customer equipment by wiring, firing, and testing boilers in the shop and field.
Key Responsibilities- Wire all controls and motors for watertube and firetube boilers and auxiliary equipment.
- Rebuild control valves and regulators.
- Build and test control panels using engineering wiring schematics and layouts.
- Build and test fuel skids using engineering wiring schematics and layouts.
- Trim out firetube and watertube boilers.
- Perform start-up of rental boilers in the field.
- Assist departments as required.
- Read blueprints and wiring schematics.
- Troubleshoot, fire, and set combustion on all types of boilers, including those with superheaters, desuperheaters, and economizers.
- Determine valve trim, regulator size and spring, oil gun length and size, and other parts and accessories needed to fire any boiler.
- Troubleshoot and set combustion on boilers with pneumatic and electrical controls.
- Train other employees on boiler operation and controls.
- Maintain tool condition and inventory.
- Apply intellect, creativity, adaptability, judgment, and management skills to achieve required results.
- Ensure duties and company projects are accomplished efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Support peers and management with internal and external projects.
- Adhere to company policies.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum six (6) years of boiler experience required, working with PLCs, transformers, transmitters, and other boiler controls.
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints and schematics.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Broad knowledge of boiler controls.
- Mechanical and electrical background required.
- Ability to troubleshoot boilers and auxiliary equipment.
- Ability to retrofit control systems in the field.
- Ability to troubleshoot systems without the appropriate schematic.
This role requires stooping, climbing, bending, crawling, and lifting 50 pounds, working in confined and elevated areas, and prolonged standing. Some work may be performed in a physical plant environment where plant orientation may be required and safety precautions are necessary. May encounter some unpleasant working conditions of brief duration. Little to no contact with hazardous conditions.
