About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Engineer Software, Payroll Compliance to join our team at Paylocity. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing large-scale distributed backend systems from design to launch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the development of scalable and reliable backend systems using cloud technologies
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical direction and data-driven implementation plans
  • Be a trusted AWS subject matter expert for the team and lead by example
  • Engage with sister teams to leverage reusable components and internal tooling to accelerate team velocity
  • Uphold the bar for production service-level objectives and engineer towards 10x operating scale for our Money Movement System
  • Provide input to standards and prescribed design patterns for the larger payroll compliance organization

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a similar technical field
  • Fluency in C#.NET
  • Experience developing event-driven systems using capabilities like RabbitMQ, Mass Transit, AWS SQS & SNS
  • Hands-on experience designing and building resilient, scalable distributed backend systems for Enterprise scale
  • Solid understanding of modern REST API standards and concepts
  • Domain expertise in developing with AWS systems and capabilities
  • Hands-on experience using data-stores (relational or non-relational) at scale
  • Experience with various automated testing methodologies and continuous release concepts like CI/CD and feature flagging
  • Familiarity with Observability and Monitoring tools like Datadog or Kibana
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills that enable collaboration with technical or business-centric peers
