Position Overview
The Huntsville Center provides a range of academic and vocational correctional education programs to individuals within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). This role involves instructing a male or female offender population in a correctional setting. Enrollees must fulfill specific academic and security criteria.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Deliver freshman and sophomore level Business courses to students in the TDCJ.Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to student success, the integration of technology in teaching, and fostering an engaging learning environment.Conduct classes according to established syllabi, outlines, and instructional resources.Maintain precise student records in accordance with institutional standards.Submit necessary student documentation to the appropriate office as per the established timeline.Guide and assess the educational experience of students following approved curricula and procedures.Provide academic support and guidance to students as needed.Faculty members are expected to be present on campus for 35 hours each week and engage in professional development, departmental meetings, graduation ceremonies, and other activities as outlined in the Faculty Workload and Responsibilities Policy.Evening and summer class instruction may be required.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
Participate in college committees as assigned.Engage in professional development opportunities as appropriate.Attend the annual graduation ceremony.Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
A Master's (or higher) degree in a relevant field or a Master's (or higher) degree with at least eighteen (18) graduate hours in a relevant discipline.Candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check conducted by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).Preferred:
- A Master's (or higher) degree in Accounting or a Master's (or higher) degree with eighteen (18) graduate hours in Accounting.
