POSITION SCOPE

The Mud Rotary Operator will be responsible for the operation of heavy machinery in diverse environments. This role includes conducting routine maintenance and ensuring the rig and work area are consistently maintained while adhering to all safety protocols. A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while prioritizing safety.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Equipment Operation

  • Set up and operate mud rotary drilling and auger equipment, sampling systems, geophysical instruments, and other in-situ testing apparatus in accordance with ConeTec's established procedures.
  • Provide timely support to Engineers and Technicians as needed.
  • Assist in the mobilization and demobilization of equipment in challenging environments.
  • Perform regular maintenance on various equipment to ensure peak performance.

  • Embrace and uphold ConeTec's safety culture as a top priority.
  • Ensure thorough preparation and understanding of all necessary safe operating procedures prior to commencing any tasks.
  • Promptly report any safety-related incidents, infractions, or near misses to the Project Manager and HSE Officer.
  • Adhere to the incident reporting protocol consistently.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate any equipment issues or needs to the Supervisor or Project Manager, along with any relevant field observations.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance operational procedures and processes.
  • Perform other shop-related tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • A valid driver's license (minimum Class 5) with a clean driving record is necessary.
  • A commercial driver's license is considered an asset.

Experience

  • Experience or training related to geotechnical fieldwork, drilling/sampling, and/or heavy equipment operations/mechanics is preferred.
  • Able to work outdoors and travel for extended periods.

Technical Skills

  • Electrical and mechanical skills are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Must be capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving heavy materials up to 50 lbs, climbing, crawling, and walking on uneven terrain, while working long hours in various weather conditions.

  • Willingness to operate a diverse range of equipment.
  • Commitment to working long hours outdoors in all conditions.
  • Strong work ethic and readiness to travel for work assignments.
  • Open to performing both shop-based and field-based tasks.
  • Eagerness to learn new advanced geotechnical testing techniques involving sophisticated electronic testing equipment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in the workplace.
