Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on all trailers and related equipment. To succeed in this role, one should have a solid knowledge of basic mechanic's tools, service, and diagnostic equipment, as well as strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and customer service skills, and be able to work independently or as a team member.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, analyze, and diagnose trailers and related equipment for mechanical issues, faulty and replacement parts.
  • Perform requested repairs according to industry standard.
  • Perform routine maintenance on trailers and related equipment.
  • Perform trailer body work and under-carriage work (e.g. air bag replacement, cross-members, dolly legs, tandem system).
  • Problem solve and document an action plan for all repairs and follow checklists and protocols while conducting repairs.
  • Ensure a safe, organized, and tidy workspace, including regularly cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment.
  • Follow all health and safety rules and guidelines, as well as common sense safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as support coworkers, able to work as part of team and work well with co-workers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • ASE certifications highly desired but not required.
  • 1-2 years of mechanical or equivalent experience (Denoted below*).
  • *Class A Mechanic = 5+ yrs experience. *Class B Mechanic = 3-5 yrs experience. *Class C Mechanic = 1-3 yrs experience.
  • Able to pass pre-employment knowledge/skill test to determine probability of job success and mechanical classification.
  • Proven mechanical acuity and basic math skills.
  • Must be able to read and write in English, as required for documentation of diagnosis and solutions.
  • Must have own tools plus Safety Glasses, Steel-toed shoes, and Hearing Protection.
  • Able to pass 10-year background check.
  • Able to pass drug test/medical physical exam
Work Environment

Work is performed in a shop; both indoors and outdoors. Activities occur inside and outside and are subject to work environments that are not climate controlled, weather, and hot/cold temperature changes, dirt, dust, soot and possibly mold, loud noise, and ladders to use for high heights. Potential hazards such as moving vehicles, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, high places, high heat, and exposure to chemicals, atmospheric conditions (e.g. fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases), or poor ventilation, or a workspace may be exposed to smoke residue, mold and mildew, contaminated water, or other unsanitary conditions as well as being in closed quarters/confined spaces (e.g. crawl spaces, small, enclosed rooms, attics, etc.)
