Job Overview

Position Title: Semi-Trailer Technician

Role Summary

The Semi-Trailer Technician is tasked with conducting routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on various trailers and associated equipment. A successful candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of essential mechanical tools, service protocols, and diagnostic instruments. Attention to detail, effective communication, and customer service abilities are crucial, along with the capacity to work autonomously or collaboratively within a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical issues in trailers and related equipment.
  • Execute repairs in accordance with industry standards.
  • Carry out regular maintenance tasks on trailers and associated equipment.
  • Perform bodywork and undercarriage repairs, including air bag replacements and cross-member adjustments.
  • Develop and document action plans for repairs, adhering to established checklists and protocols.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly cared for.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Work independently while also providing support to colleagues as needed.
  • Undertake additional duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • ASE certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
  • 1-2 years of relevant mechanical experience is desirable.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment assessment to evaluate mechanical skills and knowledge.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and basic mathematical proficiency.
  • Proficient in reading and writing in English for documentation purposes.
  • Possession of personal tools, safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, and hearing protection is required.
  • Must successfully complete a background check and drug screening.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to exert up to 100 lbs of force occasionally and up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Capability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Proficient in climbing, stooping, and balancing.
  • Ability to kneel or crawl as necessary.
  • Frequent use of hands for gripping, pinching, and typing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and receive information accurately.
  • Visual acuity for tasks such as reading and operating machinery.

Work Environment

This role involves working in a shop setting, both indoors and outdoors, subject to varying weather conditions and exposure to noise, dust, and other environmental factors. Safety precautions are essential due to potential hazards associated with mechanical equipment and chemicals.
