Position Overview:
This role focuses on the development, analysis, and design of welding methodologies and applications. Utilizing engineering principles, the incumbent will manipulate materials for fabrication and assembly processes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation to implement waterfront welding processes, including specifications, analyses, standards, and restrictions.
- Innovate or modify existing welding methods and procedures to validate welding theories.
- Evaluate nondestructive technologies that are currently underutilized in the shipyard. Promising technologies will be assessed, and business cases will be developed to secure funding through various sources.
- Develop detailed project schedules and funding profiles, utilizing gate reviews to ensure program objectives and costs are met.
- Oversee the evaluation and procurement of equipment, fabrication of mock-ups for calibration, and demonstration of technology.
- Create and implement training procedures within shops and on the deck plate.
- Develop technical justifications to support inspection non-conformances and supplier inspection adjudication.

Qualifications:
- Must possess a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant exempt experience; or a Master's Degree with 3 years of relevant professional experience; or a Ph.D. with no experience required.
- A degree in welding, materials, or mechanical engineering is preferred, along with experience in technology innovation project management.
- Familiarity with computed radiography and/or phased array ultrasonic inspection of welds is advantageous.
- Knowledge of additive manufacturing processes is beneficial.
- Proven experience in leading technology development from initial evaluation through deployment in production is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective interaction with management and clients.
