Job Overview

HireCall is seeking a skilled Welding Process Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing new welding procedures and methods to ensure the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Welding Procedures: Design and implement new welding procedures and methods to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Liaison with Engineering and Operations Teams: Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Customer Communication: Communicate with customers regarding welding issues and provide solutions.
  • Welding Procedure Specification Management: Review and assign Welding Procedure Specifications for jobs and maintain the database.
  • Welder Qualifications and Testing: Maintain welder qualifications and test methods for both the American Welding Society and Canadian Welding Bureau.
  • CALCULATE WELD CONSUMABLES: Calculate weld consumables to ensure accurate material usage.
  • Welding Procedure Specification and Procedure Qualification Report Database Management: Maintain and coordinate the Welding Procedure Specification and Procedure Qualification Report database.
  • Pressure Equipment Directive Certification: Maintain and coordinate Pressure Equipment Directive Certification.
  • Develop and Publish Welding Procedure Specifications: Develop and publish Welding Procedure Specifications, Procedure Qualification Reports, and Tube-to-Tube Sheet mock-ups.
  • Review and Accommodate Welding Specifications: Review and accommodate welding specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Submit Requisitions for Laboratory Work: Submit requisitions for laboratory work to ensure accurate testing and analysis.
Requirements
  • Regular Attendance and Punctuality: Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for this role.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Ability to work cooperatively with others, deal respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, other employees, managers, and executive management.
  • Multi-Tasking and Adaptability: Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently, work in a fast-paced environment, and interchange with others in the department.
  • Support to Other Departments: Ability to provide support to other departments with respect to welding matters, assist with audits, participate in root cause investigation, and provide recommendations for inspection and corrective action.
  • Education and Certifications: 1yr post-high school education specifically related to welding is required. Vo-tech, military, and community college education are considered. BS engineering degree is preferred. Must have working knowledge of ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1, and section IX. Must have working knowledge of AWS D1.1. Must have knowledge in strength of materials and be able to perform basic engineering strength calculations. Must have a basic understanding of welding metallurgy and heat treatment. Preference is given to individuals with certifications such as AWS: CWI, CWEng, SCWI, CWB: Certified welding supervisor, Certified welding engineer, API: 510, 570, 653.
