About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care and support, including bathing, toileting, and oral hygiene, in a safe and respectful manner.
  • Assist patients with dressing and undressing, and help them with their personal belongings.
  • Monitor and document patient weights, intake, and output, as well as vital signs such as temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
  • Perform and document glucose finger sticks and collect other specimens as directed.
  • Provide post-mortem care and assist with the preparation of patients for procedures and exams.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care and support.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Identify and respond to opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction and experience.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program, Patient Care Technician program, Fundamentals of Nursing program, or equivalent medical background experience.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs.
  • Strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of patients and their caregivers.
  • Exceptional focus on teamwork and dedication to ongoing education.
  • Ability and passion to deliver high-quality care and service based on a strong sense of patient focus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience or certification in phlebotomy and checking EKG, vital signs, and blood sugar.
  • At least one year of PCT or CNA experience in a hospital setting.
Licenses and Certifications
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification (must be obtained by completion of onboarding).
