Nesco Resource, a national staffing company, is working with a leading defense client to find a skilled Controller.
Job Summary:The Controller will be responsible for directing accounting operations, fiscal plans, and policies, as well as maintaining fiscal records and preparing financial reports for the business unit. This role will supervise Accounting Department staff and ensure the accurate preparation of financial reports.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare month-end closings, financial forecasts, budgetary controls, cost accounting, internal/external audits, internal/external reporting, and Sarbanes Oxley Compliance.
- Provide financial advice to the manufacturing department through the study of financial data.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system).
- Manage fixed asset depreciation and accounts receivable processes.
- Meet corporate reporting and federally mandated reporting requirements of the division.
- Manage, train, and evaluate accounting staff.
- Ensure accuracy of physical inventory and controlling the flow of raw materials, tools, and other assets in the manufacturing department through cost analysis.
- Review accounting standards and internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Supervise external financial audits and help enhance compliance with relevant financial regulations.
- Demonstrate ability to prepare, analyze and comprehend financial reports, with the ability to identify trends, risks, variances with opportunities for improvement.
- Responsible for the preparation of ETC's through job costing analysis as well as preparing the cost of goods sold on all sales.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and established company procedures.
- Responsible for the preparation of reports, such as budget reports, cash flow reports, etc., as required.
- Prepare analytical studies of accounting data, i.e.: cost analysis of labor and material, assets, liabilities, etc.
- Assist outside accountants with annual audit.
- Prepare detailed cost summaries and inventories to determine job costs, unit costs, etc.
- Establishing and maintaining files and records necessary to the orderly operation of the accounting function.
- Accumulate data to prepare and make monthly journal entries.
- Enter journal entries in system to generate general ledger reports.
- Prepare periodic budget, cash flow reports, etc., as required.
- Prepare payroll tax reports as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 15+ years of accounting/finance experience and 2+ years of cost accounting.
- Manufacturing experience required; Defense industry strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in a supervisory capacity required.
- Costpoint highly preferred, ERP systems, Microsoft Office proficiency.
