Job Overview

FRIENDS of Broomfield is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-time Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a DSP, you will play a vital role in providing meaningful and individually tailored services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who live in our Residential and Social Programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care services to adults with IDD, including assistance with activities of daily living, toileting, grooming, and feeding.
  • Implement household activities as outlined in individual service plans, teaching independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, money management, grocery shopping, and sound decision making.
  • Ensure health, safety, and welfare of individuals according to procedures, individualized plans, and protocols.
  • Provide guidance, motivation, and support to help individuals reach their goals and maintain their health and safety.
  • Develop relationships with community members through various activities.
  • Provide direct support and supervision during Social Program events.
  • Follow all service plans, Individual Service and Support Plans, the recommendations of team members, and the needs and desires of the individual.
  • Effective communication with individuals and their interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide transportation using FRIENDS of Broomfield fleet of vehicles and personal car.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the person's residence.
  • Work productively and cooperatively as a member of a team.
  • Complete daily documentation and progress notes.
  • Implement behavior plans as necessary.
  • Report any unusual behaviors, incidents, or concerns to supervisory/case management staff.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year experience working with adults with IDD.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to meet FRIENDS driving requirements.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force; physical condition to enable walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; stamina to be on feet and active for full work days; ability to speak or exchange information in an audible manner.
