Part-time Support Specialist

At FRIENDS of Broomfield, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing meaningful and individually tailored services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who live in our Residential and Social Programs.
The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for supporting individuals with IDD and a commitment to empowering them to lead fulfilling lives. You will work collaboratively with our team to plan and schedule educational and community inclusion activities, provide supervision, mentoring, and teaching opportunities, and promote person-centered concepts.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting individuals with daily living skills and promoting independence
- Providing direct care services, including assistance with activities of daily living, toileting, grooming, and feeding
- Ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of individuals according to procedures, individualized plans, and protocols
- Implementing household activities and teaching independent living skills, such as cooking, cleaning, money management, and grocery shopping
- Providing guidance, motivation, and support to help individuals reach their goals and maintain their health and safety
- Developing relationships with community members through various activities
- Providing direct support and supervision during Social Program events
- Following all service plans, Individual Service and Support Plans, and the recommendations of team members
- Effective communication with individuals and their interdisciplinary teams
- Providing transportation using FRIENDS of Broomfield's fleet of vehicles and personal car
- Maintaining the cleanliness and safety of individuals' residences
- Working productively and cooperatively as a member of a team
- Completing daily documentation and progress notes
- Implementing behavior plans as necessary
- Reporting any unusual behaviors, incidents, or concerns to supervisory/case management staff
Qualifications include:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 1 year of experience working with adults with IDD
- Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to meet FRIENDS driving requirements
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force, physical condition to enable walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and stamina to be on feet and active for full work days
Hours: Monday through Friday, day and early evening hours
Classification: Part-Time/Non-Exempt
Pay: $15.00 to $17.50 per hour depending on experience
