Job Summary

This is a Military Technician position with the 88th Readiness Division, Area Maintenance Support Activity (AMSA) 58, located in Springfield, Ohio.

The selected candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, and maintaining a variety of heavy mobile equipment, including construction, industrial, combat, tactical, and powered support equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair major systems or components of equipment, including power packs, transmissions, transfers, gear reduction units, injector pumps, air conditioners, fuel pumps, and alternators.
  • Perform initial and in-process inspections to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues to localize defects and determine the cause of malfunction.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance on defective parts and provide technical assistance to unit personnel.
  • Operate motor vehicles to perform duties of this position.
Requirements

This position requires active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set.

The selected candidate must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in their written application materials, that they possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

The ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer without more than normal supervision is a critical requirement for this position.

Working Conditions

The selected candidate will work in a variety of environments, including inside and outside, and will be exposed to drafts, dirt, grease, and vehicle fumes.

They will also be exposed to some inclement weather, such as rain, snow, cold, and freezing temperatures, and may be required to work in mud and wet or icy areas when outdoors.
