Join the State of Washington team as a UI Benefits Technician and play a critical role in supporting the Unemployment Insurance (UI) program. As a UI Benefits Technician, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to claimants, employers, and other stakeholders, ensuring that they receive accurate and timely information about their UI benefits.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide customer service to claimants, employers, and other stakeholders via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
- Process and resolve UI claims, including determining eligibility and calculating benefit amounts.
- Assist claimants with filing all types of claims, including initial claims, continued claims, and appeals.
- Provide guidance to employers on UI laws and regulations, including how to navigate the eServices system.
- Interview and review documents to determine initial eligibility and monetary determinations.
- Obtain and analyze necessary data, such as wage information, to process UI claims.
- Detect discrepancies and clarify data through telephonic and electronic inquiries, correspondence, and interviews.
- Conduct telephone interviews, review and obtain work history, and verify earnings and hours to process timely UI claims.
- Answer questions from claimants regarding procedures, laws, and policies related to UI.
- Handle complaint calls from claimants and, if necessary, escalate to the appropriate level.
- Ensure that limited English proficient clients receive properly translated forms and translation services from interpreters.
- Ensure claimants needing special assistance in accessing UI benefits are appropriately accommodated.
- Two (2) years of experience providing customer service, such as assistance to clients and/or customers regarding inquiries, concerns, or problems.
- Ability to pass an Unemployment Insurance (UI) Claim & Benefit Information Review.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software applications.
