Medical Technologist Job Summary

Corpus Christi Medical Center is seeking a skilled Medical Technologist to join our team. As a Medical Technologist, you will be responsible for performing laboratory procedures using established and approved protocols. You will also maintain equipment and records, perform quality assurance activities, and function as a supervisor, educator, manager, or researcher within a medical laboratory setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Critically review results and assure that critical values are reported to appropriate personnel
  • Perform testing correctly and timely, recognizing appropriate reference ranges and critical values when reporting patient testing results
  • Review QC and assure corrective action is performed, appropriate, and documented
  • Develop working knowledge of all areas of the laboratory and document scheduled and unscheduled instrument maintenance
  • Troubleshoot laboratory equipment, assuring minimum downtime
  • Refer specimens to the reference lab(s) in the proper manner
  • Evaluate new methods and procedures, following established protocol for their implementation
  • Monitor stock inventories and replenish appropriately
  • Provide budget input, adhere to accrediting agency guidelines, help customers, and use Laboratory Information System (LIS) appropriately
  • Complete test authorizations
  • Demonstrate the ability to set appropriate priorities and report results within designated time frames
  • Participate in the Medicare Laboratory Billing Compliance plan

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred ASCP certification
  • Preferred one year clinical experience in a micro setting
